چکیده

decreased cardiomyocyte SR-mitochondrial contact length by 30% and reduced the content of SR-associated proteins in mitochondria-associated membranes. This was associated with decreased mitochondrial Ca uptake (despite unchanged mitochondrial membrane potential) but increased steady-state and caffeine-induced SR Ca release. Accordingly, Ca -induced stimulation of Krebs cycle dehydrogenases during -adrenergic stimulation

Brief UltraRapid Communication MARF and Opa1 Control Mitochondrial and Cardiac Function in Drosophila

Rationale: Mitochondria interact via actions of outer and inner membrane fusion proteins. The role of mitochondrial fusion in functioning of the heart, where mitochondria comprise 30% of cardiomyocyte volume and their intermyofilament spatial arrangement with other mitochondria is highly ordered, is unknown. Objective: Model and analyze mitochondrial fusion defects in Drosophila melanogaster he...

Mitochondrial fusion directs cardiomyocyte differentiation via calcineurin and Notch signaling.

Mitochondrial morphology is crucial for tissue homeostasis, but its role in cell differentiation is unclear. We found that mitochondrial fusion was required for proper cardiomyocyte development. Ablation of mitochondrial fusion proteins Mitofusin 1 and 2 in the embryonic mouse heart, or gene-trapping of Mitofusin 2 or Optic atrophy 1 in mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs), arrested mouse heart de...

Interorganelle Communication between Mitochondria and the Endolysosomal System

The function of mitochondria and lysosomes has classically been studied separately. However, evidence has now emerged of intense crosstalk between these two organelles, such that the activity or stress status of one organelle may affect the other. Direct physical contacts between mitochondria and the endolysosomal compartment have been reported as a rapid means of interorganelle communication, ...

L-type calcium channel targeting and local signalling in cardiac myocytes.

In the heart, Ca(2+) influx via Ca(V)1.2 L-type calcium channels (LTCCs) is a multi-functional signal that triggers muscle contraction, controls action potential duration, and regulates gene expression. The use of LTCC Ca(2+) as a multi-dimensional signalling molecule in the heart is complicated by several aspects of cardiac physiology. Cytosolic Ca(2+) continuously cycles between ~100 nM and ~...
